Description: This listing is for a piece of mission-flown aluminum from the fuselage of the iconic B-17F Flying Fortress Memphis Belle. The artifact measures approximately 1" across, and it's been mounted to an 8x10" photo for display. This item also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity listing its provenance. The aluminum material was flown on the Belle during the aircraft's campaign in World War II, from 7 November 1942 – 19 May 1943. It was removed from her fuselage after the end of the war, during repairs made by the Memphis Belle Memorial Foundation. Some of the removed artifacts were eventually obtained by Ron Cole, the owner of an aviation museum and art gallery in Ohio. The piece for sale here was taken from a larger piece sold by Cole in 2023. The COA accompanying this item includes photos of the original artifact, along with photos of your specific piece being removed from it. Please note that I have several of these for sale, and so you may not receive the exact item in the photos. However, you will receive one of an equivalent size, with the same type of documentation. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you for viewing this listing!
