Description: This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features a John H. Bains patent, dated April 29, 1902. This wire is called "Bain's Large "H" Barb on Two Lines" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 217-B VARIATION). (Hagemeier does not show the large and small barb variations). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are two pointed made from a staple shaped barbing wire. Hump of staple is pressed between the line wires, and the two points wrapped in alternating directions around both lines. Sample shows moderate pitting. Sample is 18" in length and has seven barbs. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. There are no broken, or missing barbing points.
