(Old Maps, 17th Century Maps, Europe, Balkans, Thrace, Asia, Anatolia, Asia Minor, Hellespont, Constantinople, Mount Ida). Issued London, 1627 by Sandys (Sandby). Uncommon early 17th century engraved map. Oriented with north to the bottom. Tiny castle like structures seen along the shore, interior topography terrain depicted in charming primitive manner. Nice looking example, pleasing age patina, small burn hole at center, backed with matching paper and appearing as if an old ink stain. Text as always near image and on reverse, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive. Sheet measures c. 11 1/4" H x 7 1/8" W. Engraved area measures c. 3 3/4" H x 5 1/8" W.
