Description: This is a rare October 24th, 1932 playbill from the Original Broadway engagement of the ABBEY THEATRE IRISH PLAYERS at the Martin Beck Theatre in New York City. (The engagement opened October 17th, 1932 with several different productions presented in repertory ranging from two to fourteen performances.) ..... The Abbey Theatre (also known as the National Theatre of Ireland) was the first state-subsidized theatre in the English speaking world. This was the first of three American tours that the Abbey Players took in the 1930's. The current week included performances of the George Shiels comedy "THE NEW GOOSEN", the Lennox Robinson comedy "THE WHITEHEADED BOY", the Sean O'Casey classic "JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK", the Paul Vincent Carroll play "THINGS THAT ARE CAESAR'S", the W. B. Yeats play "THE WORDS UPON THE WINDOW PANE", the J. M. Synge classic "THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD", the Lennox Robinson comedy "THE FAR OFF HILLS", the W. B.
