Description: Here is a darling little French Bebe Mascotte. She is clearly marked on the back of her head M 2. Mascottes are quite rare, as not that many of them were made. First produced by May Freres and Cie in France around 1890. They were subsequently bought out by the Jules Steiner doll company. These dolls have the prettiest faces with the hint of a smile. This doll stands only 11 inches. She wears a lovely white reproduction dress with layers of lace and frills. Her bisque is pale and there are no chips or hairlines. There is a small firing line at her ear lobe. Her wig is mohair. She has large brown glass eyes which are set. They are surrounded by lushly painted lashes and the eyebrows are multi feathered . Her French body is well strung with normal age related issues to the composition. This doll could be the jewel of any collection.
