Description: Beautiful Decorative Vintage INABA Japan Cloisonne Enamel Box /w Birds & Flowers This stunning and very decorative box was handmade by the Inaba Cloisonne Company in Japan in the late 1940s or early 1950s. If features colorful bird and floral designs on a white background. The inside presents a beautiful silver wash with engraved birds and bamboo plants. Cloisonne enameling is a very high-skilled work intensive manufacturing process where silver wire is laid on a metal frame to outline the design. The spaces between the wires are then filled with glass enamels and the piece is fired in a kiln bringing out the colors and high gloss finish. Even small variations in enamel mixtures or firing temperatures can spoil the result and the whole process needs to be repeated. Very good vintage condition with no apparent damage or repairs. The silver wash is in very good condition. The piece measures approximately 4" long x 3 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" high. Marked "Made in Japan" and carrying the Inaba company logo.
