Description: 1703 Works of the prophets (second half of the old testament) and the New Testament, in German. This Bible was printed in three sections, each with their own title page and pagination. This is the last two sections; there was likely a first book, in matching binding, that has been lost to time. Price reflects the missing portion. Using Vialibri, the least expensive copy of the Ulenberg Biblia for 1703 is $520 USD at the time of listing.Physical Attributes - Measures approx. 24 x 14 x 5 cm. Blind stamped vellum binding with beveled wood boards. Spine with four raised bands, "BIBLIA GERMANI" tooled and filled in black in one compartment. Working clasps resembling fish scales. Two sections; two title pages. Three full-page engravings. Pages - (1), 380, (1), 335Condition - See pictures. Worn vellum binding, clasps present and working. Oddly, someone stole the front vellum, likely there was a tooled Jesus or saint that they wanted. It is interesting to see the deep impressions of the medallions that were used on the front board; they must have been applied by press. Binding soiled with thumbing of time. Rear board's medallion is largely worn away. Missing the old testament, which was likely bound in another binding. This book contains the prophets, and the new testament, each with their own respective title pages. The front 100 pages show a moisture mark at the upper right corner. 2" worm track that from the 1st leaf until the page numbered "10". Toning and foxing throughout. Candle ember hole on 105. Moisture mark from upper right corner again at rear. Name on rear pastedown. Ink mark from bottom edge, in the margin, from NT page 200 to end. Old crowned monogram library stamp at verso of last printed leaf.
