Description: Blue Vervain is a herbaceous perennial hearty to zones 3-8. It grows approximately 12 to 15 inches high and wide and will spread by self seeding. If you do not want the plant to spread then plant them in a large pot and snip the flower spikes off when the flowers die back. It develops 2 foot high spikes that have purple blue flowers. The plant has a reddish tint. The leaves, used fresh or dried, are the part used in herbal teas and medicines. Vervain likes full sun but will tolerate some shade. You may plant the seeds outside in the fall for spring germination or give them two weeks of refrigeration and then plant them on moist soil and in light and keep damp until germination which is 14-30 days. 50 seeds per pkt.
