Description: This is an 16 3/4 by 13 3/4 inch mixed media (watercolor & charcoal) painting on paper of a boat by the shoreline in a seascape setting and done in a circular composition. The actual image area measures 12 by 12 inches. It was done around the 1960s by listed New Jersey artist Joseph Van Ramp. It is in very good to excellent condition. See the above condition report as well as the photos. There is a similar piece by him that I have listed separately. It will be shipped via UPS for $20. Joseph B. Van Ramp born in 1915 in Kearny, N.J. He died on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in Mansfield Township, NJ. He was a son of the late Joseph and Kate Riker Van Ramp. Van Ramp lived in New Jersey, California, and Hawaii. He was a self-employed artist. He served in the Army during World War II. He attended the Newark School of Fine Industrial Art, attended the New School of New York City, and attended the Rockport Art School in Massachusetts. While living in Hawaii, he received numerous awards from the Honolulu Academy of Fine Arts, The Honolulu Print Makers Association, and the Hawaiian Artist Association. Some of his works are still on display at the Newark Museum and the New Jersey State Museum at Trenton State College. He was the recipient of the New Jersey L. Bamberger Gallery Award. Joseph studied under Adolf Konrad with whom he was friends for 50 years. He was featured at the Hunterdon Museum of Art for a 50 year retrospective of his work in 1998.He exhibited at Rabin & Krueger in Newark. His work is in the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton. He was represented in the 1981 Kean College exhibit, Rabin & Krueger Reconstructed.
