These mix is used by bonsai/succulent/cactus professions or hobbyists. These mix provide good water drainage, nutrition to the plant and air circulation around the plant root. So this can prevent root rotten. You can use this mix as top dressing or mix it with garden soil which is what I do with all my succulents. we only have small size maifan available for this mix. the size of the small maifan is 0.04" to 0.12" Four types of rocks/stones are: black volcanic lava rocks(size 0.12 inch to 0.2 inch): It is porous and provide different kinds of nutritions to plant. green zeolite rocks(size 0.04inch to 0.12 inch ):Zeolite is a crystalline mineral made up of silicon, aluminum and oxygen. These components create cavities and channels inside the mineral that attract water and other small molecules. This is very helpful for succulent for summer. we do not want to water succulent too much in summer. The reserved water in zeolite is evaporated slowly to the root. the root wont be dried out. maifan stones(size 0.12 inch to 0.2 inch): Mainfan has so many benefit. it contains many minerals to the plant. Akadama(size 0.12 inch to 0.2 inch): It is a clay-like mineral. While akadama is more costly than alternative soil components, it is prized by many growers for its ability to retain water and nutrients while still providing porosity and free drainage.(this is a copy from Wikipedia) I will filter out the dust before I weight the mix. Then, seal it in a clean ziploc bag. When you receive it, there could be a little bit dusty because of the friction during the shipment.
