Description: British Musket Tool with Bore Wiper (Worm)Our British Musket Tool with Bore Wiper is an authentic reproduction of a common British musket tool used to maintain and clean Brown Bess muskets from before the French & Indian War, through the Revolutionary War period, and well into the Napoleonic era. Produced virtually unchanged for nearly 75 years, these musket tools turn up regularly at archeological sites. Two legs of the Y shaped tool are used as screwdrivers. They are of different thicknesses to fit wide and narrow slots in screws or lock bolts. The other leg is tapered and when the wiper is removed can be used as a pin punch. The included wiper (often called a worm) is used with a patch or rag for cleaning the musket's bore. It is threaded 10-32 for attachment to ramrods having that thread, or could be retapped for other thread patterns. When not in use, the wiper is screwed onto the thin leg of the tool for safe keeping. While designed for use with the Brown Bess muskets of 75 caliber, the wiper is small enough to be used with weapons of 69 caliber also.
