Bronze Eagle Flag Emperor Laurel Wreath Marble Napoleon French Napoleonic Roman

Description: Bronze Eagle Flag Emperor Laurel Wreath Marble Napoleon French Napoleonic Memorial in Roman Style. The antique portrait of Napoleon Bonapart is not included but is considered one of the finest ever painted. It can be purchased and hung form the eagle's beak for an extra $289. You will not find a finer quality one as that is what i look for 100% of the time. It however is not priced any higher than other ones of less quality. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: France. CONDITION: Good condition - used with small signs of ageing. DIMENSIONS: 22.5×11.5×25.5 cm. WEIGHT: 1.8 kg This is the only time you will ever see a Napoleonic Eagle with Laurel Wreath both taken from the Roman Empire. All other items you will find a French Eagle with a Laurel Wreath will be on an eagle captured by the enemy. This is an extremely rare French version of both together. The hook wire that the French eagle is holding is for a miniature portrait to be hung from of Napoleon Bonapart which I also own one of the finest examples of. This cost extra at $289. See the attached pictures of it as well. When Napoleon Bonaparte was finally defeated, the victorious allies brought back the Royalty or King of France and he ordered that all of Napoleons Bonaparte's eagles be milted down. The new French King also gave some out to the Victorious Allied Generals, but those eagles that were given out were never carried into battle against the Allies but were made previously for a ceremony that never happened, so they were not trophies of war of any kind. In 1804, just four days after his coronation an Emperor of the French with a Roman laurel wreath instead of a crown, he (Nepoleon) dedicated his new eagles to the memory of the Roman Empire just two days after he was coronated as Emperor with a Gold Wreath just like a Roman Emperor wore. This ceremony was also for the distribution of the eagles to the Grand Armee. These original ones were solid bronze and gilded. For one reason or another, three different eagle styles were made during Napoleon's reign. The Distribution of the Eagle Standards is an 1810 oil painting by Jacques-Louis David depicting a military ceremony in 1804 that was arranged by Napoleon after his assumption of power as Emperor of the French. In the ceremony, Napoleon sought to revive the military ethos of the Roman Empire. The full French language title of the work is Serment de l'armée fait à l'empereur après la distribution des aigles au champ de Mars, 5 décembre 1804, which translates literally as "Oath of the army made to the emperor after the distribution of the eagles at the field of Mars, 5 December 1804".
