Description: 15 seeds from 2023. Bulbine margarethae is a winter-growing Aloe relative from South Africa that grows from a small tuber. It has very soft, delicate, patterned leaves, and similarly delicate yellow flowers with frilly stamens are produced in the spring as the leaves start to dry up. With age, the tuber can produce offsets, forming a small clump. Surface sow or barely cover seeds in early fall to winter on a well-drained mix with mineral additives (perlite, pumice, lava). Keep moist around room temperature until they germinate (cool nights or exposure to rain may help, sometimes it can take a month or more). Once germinated, allow soil surface to dry a bit. Water adults well when waking up from dormancy in the fall, ease off in the spring. This is a decent beginner Bulbine, easier to grow than some others and less rot-prone. Identification on this one is tentative. It may have some Bulbine wiesei genes (or other similar species). I offer free shipping on additional purchases, so feel free to check out my other items.
