Frequently Asked Questions Why introduce Strip when you already have tubeless conversion tape? For most applications, adhesive tubeless tape is great and will always be lighter than tubeless rim tape. A layer of our Caffélatex Tubeless Tape weighs less than 10g per wheel, while Strip starts at 30g (but note that a butyl tubeless rim tape weighs over 60g). However, tape does require time and some skill to install properly: Strip can be fitted in a couple of minutes and will work perfectly even on deep rims or those with a low-tack finish. Unlike adhesive tapes that remain inside the rim channel, the Strip goes up the inside walls of the rim and in some cases can be seen from the outside, when the tire is mounted. Why? The idea is to create an air seal between the tire and Strip. This is especially useful for pin-jointed rims: in those, the joint is not welded and sealing the spoke holes in the rim channel is not enough as sealant/air can leak through the sides of the rim, at the joint.
