Description: Offered is a Rare vintage 1909 (the year Geronimo died) artist-signed postcard depicting Geronimo ... it is a full portrait, an artist's rendering of the "softer side" studio portrait taken of him circa 1905 and issued by Brisley Drugs, Prescott, Arizona. * The card was handstamped with an equally special Hampton Beach NH Rural Station postmark on Sept 30, 1910. I believe the card was printed in Germany, but am not sure. There are artist initials, and while the "B" is clear, the first letter looks like either a T, E, or F. One possibility would have been Elbridge Burbank, but he painted from life (in fact, was the only person, to ever have painted Geronimo from life) and in regalia. Additionally, it is not the manner in which he signed his work. This portrait is taken directly from the studio portrait which included the "outside landscape" as backdrop. Having traded in postcards for approx 60 years (with a specific interest in Native American PC and Ephemera, I have never seen another. This one has been in my possession for approximately 25 years. One is not documented as having sold for an appproximately 15 year period of recorded sales, so cannot pinpoint the name of the artist from previous sales. So .... Super Rare and an unusual pose for Geronimo .... no War Chief in sight, just an older man in daily dress having a date with the camera ... he was 79 at the time of death.
