Description: C1760, ANTIQUE 18thC MEISSEN PORCELAIN TEA CUP AND SAUCER, PAINTED WATTEAU SCENE Description:An antique Meissen porcelain cup and saucer painted with Watteau scenes, dating to the 18th Century, circa 1760.The saucer and outer surface of the cup are hand painted in overglaze polychrome enamels in the manner of Watteau, with a scene of a courting couple to the cup, and a family scene to the saucer, both pieces with matching gold gilt ornate border. The inner bowl with a 'Deutscherblumen' floral spray. The undersides are glazed, with a raised unglazed foot rim, the cup with gilded branch handle with raised floral detail at the top.The undersides of both with crossed swords mark with a single slash qualifying mark, indicating it was sold as a blank from 1740 onwards. Also with impressed and incised numbers.
