Description: C1770 First Period Worcester Porcelain 'Pine Cone' Pattern Chestnut Basket A superb first period Worcester chestnut basket printed with the pine cone pattern. Oval in shape, the basket has pierced walls and small daisy flowers applied at the intersections on the outside. There are two rope twist handles with flowers, leaves and berries at the terminals. Painted Worcester crescent marks to the base. Reference: Worcester Blue & White Porcelain 1751-1790, Branyan, French & Sandon, section II.C.II The basket measures approximately 21cm by 19.5cm wide and 9cm high. It weighs 535g. The basket is in excellent condition. Both handles have a small rough area to the right hand connection to the body that appear like small surface chips and there is a small manufacturing defect to one lattice cross-section visible to the interior. All of the outside daisies, flowers and leaves appear to be intact and original. Please see photographs for more information.
