Description: Up for grabs is a beautiful Northern California basket attributed to the POMO by knowledgeable dealers I showed it to at one point. Quite old dating from second to third quarter of the 19th century. It is about 8" to 8.5" in diameter X 3.75" height. Extremely finely woven gift basket. Decorated with many remaining quail topknots and disc shaped beads cut from shell. (Many feathers and beads are missing. One bead is loose and will be included.) Nice proportions to my eye - with interlocking diamond geometric forms stitched in dyed braken fern on a golden brown ground. Top edge and general shape is not completely round either from age related deformation or the original design. I had some excellent restoration work done on it. Had rim and several tears restored as I recall. I think the condition is good with many missing stitches or groups of stitches here and there, but overall nice presentation. Obviously, look closely at images. Thanks for looking.
