The lens is set in an early Synchro-Compur shutter with B, 1 - 1/500 sec settings. The shutter has a built-in self-timer which is activated by pushing the standard cocking lever all the way after moving a little catch aside (the old Pre-WWII Compur way). To determine the optical performance of the lens, it was mounted on a 12 MPixel Olympus E-PL1 digital camera equipped with a Nikon focusing stage for focusing. The set-up is shown in image #6. The E-PL1 was set to manual focus and manual shutter setting. Image #7 shows the result for the lens diaphragm fully open (reduced to eBay's maximum image size of 1600 pixels). Image #8 shows the center of the same picture at the full resolution of the E-PL1. The image is a little bit soft. As expected, the resolution of the lens improves when stopping it down. Image #9 shows the result at diaphragm setting 1:8. Image #10 shows the center of the s ame picture at the full resolution of the E-PL1. The lens is in good condition. Glass is generally in good condition. Diaphragm moves smoothly. The shutter works at all settings. The built-in self timer does work. Flash contact triggers external flash. The optical quality is quite good as demonstrated by the digital camera test. Scales for exposure time and diaphragm setting have apparently been added to the shutter housing.
