Although classified with the sandpipers and shorebirds in Family Scolopacidae, the American woodcock lives mainly in upland settings. Its many folk names include timberdoodle, bogsucker, night partridge, brush snipe, hokumpoke, and becasse.. This American woodcock measures approximately 6 inches tall and 10 inches wide from tip of tail to beak. This bird is mint without any handling marks, has glass eyes and is mounted on a wooden base.
