Description: Chambersburg, PA CDV woman ID Aunt Kale by H. Bishop's New Skylight Gallery This woman has a very intent expression on her face. She wears a dark, high collared dress with a large bow, and a brooch at her throat. Across the bottom of the image is written in pencil what looks to me like "Aunt Kale." There was a Kale W. Boyd in Chambersburg, who was born in 1845 and died in 1940. This could be the woman pictured. I could also be misreading the name. It might be Kate or Kali. Yellowing to image and card. Fading to image. Light soiling to card & image. All 4 corners are clipped and top and bottom edges trimmed. On reverse is printed: "PhotographedAtH. Bishop'sNew Skylight Gallery,Chambersburg, PA." Card measures about 3.75 x 2.375 inches, photo is about 3.75 x 2.25 inches. Portrait vignette is about 1.25 x .75 inches. My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.
