Description: Maker and age: On the base of this beautiful covered vegetable bowl are two back stamps of the iconic Limoges maker Gerard, Dufraisseix & Abbott, or GDA, the firm begun by the legendary Charles Field Haviland. The green white ware mark number 1 and the red circle decorator's mark number 3 date the bowl's production to between 1900 and 1941. Design: In keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous and so coveted, the bowl and its lid are beautifully hand painted in an unidentified pattern of pink flowers against fine pure white porcelain. It's very similar to the pattern that replacements.com calls CHF1952 but this bowl is trimmed in gold; CHF1952 has no trim. Size: The bowl is 9 1/2 inches long, 6 3/4 inches wide at the opening and 3 inches tall without the lid. The two pieces together weigh about 3 pounds. Condition: There are no nicks, chips, stains or crazing. There is discoloration to the inner rims of both pieces, an embedded mark on the lid and a small break on the underside of one handle that appears to have been repaired - these are shown in the photos with the red arrows. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
