Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot; 1796-1875; French landscape painter and printmaker. Corot was the leading painter of the Barbizon school in the mid 19th century and joined the studio of the neoclassical landscapist Achille-Etna Michallon. An etching which is bright and unfaded, with detail and black ink intaglio lines, the image measures 15 cm x 8 cm (6 x 3 ins.) within a platemark and impression on a laid paper sheet, size 27 cm x 19 cm (11 x 7½ ins.) Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with age toning and handling marks condusive with age.
