Description: THE MAN WHO SANG THE SILLIES by JOHN CIARDI illustrated by EDWARD GOREY The lively verses here are great fun, especially for reading aloud. But the true merit of this book for me is the art by Edward Gorey. His pictures add so much and range in tone from delightfully goofy to that light hint of the macabre. This book was bought used and is in acceptable condition. IT IS A LIBRARY DISCARD. I do not usually sell library discards, but do make a few exceptions. Sometimes I think it is worthwhile to do so because someone may want a reference copy, as I did when I originally bought it. Alas, we collectors cannot always afford the editions in better condition. I take very good care of my books in my smoke-free environment. Specific marks showing it is a library discard: two tapes stickers on dj with sharpie marks; gold sticker on dj stating it has a "longlife binding"; glued-on pocket on front end paper; tape marks on inside covers; rubber stamp marks from library, including "withdrawn" on front end paper and title page Dust jacket: shows light overall dirt and wear despite being encased in protective mylar; small crease at top of spine Binding: durable paper-over-board cover is very clean, no dents or marks, having been well protected by the dj Interior pages: crisp & clean, no rips or marks (other than what described above) sewn binding is secure - all pages intact ISBN: none Published by J. B. Lippincott Company, based in Philadelphia, PA and N.Y.C., N.Y. I am happy to combine shipping to save my buyers money. Books can easily be combined and pack well together. Media mail is a very affordable rate offered by the USPS. Cost is based solely on weight and not on distance. If buying multiple books, please put them in your cart and then "request total from seller". I will then send you an invoice with an adjusted shipping cost. However, I have been told that if you are ordering from a phone, it may not be possible to request such a total. If that is your situation, please go ahead and pay the shipping as billed. Then, when I process your order, I will calculate the difference between shipping paid versus actual cost, and refund you any difference. Thanks for looking!
