Description: Product DetailsChinese Antique, Ming Dynasty 1618-1683, Kosometsuke Porcelain Bird and tree painting Plate Mushikui Date : End of Ming Dynasty (1618-1683)Material : PorcelainSize : Height 2.5cm, Width 15.6cm Note : Antique condition. There is a crack in the center of the dish. The rim has numerous “Mushikui” (insect bites), or chips in the glaze from the firing process. These late Ming- and Qing-dynasty dyed pieces were made in Jingdezhen, China, and imported to Japan. During firing, the glaze and clay did not match the shrinkage rate, causing the rim to peel and the kiln to crack, but Japanese tea masters found beauty in these marks, which looked like insect-eaten marks, and imported many of them. Today, only those that have been handed down to Japan exist. About our store Thank you for visiting our shop. Our shop is located in Japan.
