This item was carefully crafted using hand or hand powered tools only, from a Stanley Sweetheart # 18 block plane lever cap, of which someone had ground the bearing surface down to the patent date.The earlier version SWEETHEART logo is exceptionally well preserved. As I've stated previously, I don't believe in throwing anything away that could be repurposed, and couldn't see discarding an interesting logo that represents the (S)tanley (W)orks, and is a memorial to Stanley's long time president Hart (1884 to 1915).
