Description: You're buying chisel type block plane shown in the photos. This plane was carefully crafted from a Stanley #220 block plane, as can be easily seen in the photos. The lever cap was refinished with oil-based black enamel paint. The blade is a hybrid of a nearly worn out Stanley 2" bench plane blade, and a Stanley 220 adjustable blade in similar condition. This same blade also works in my handcrafted Carriage Makers block plane. These planes can also be used with a standard 220 blade, you just won't have the edging capability. The result is a plane that can be operated similar to that of a chisel, especially good for trimming surface irregularities such as glue joints, slightly protruding cut off dowels, and the like.I have tested this plane on dowel ends as shown in the photo, and it seemed to function satisfactorily. These type of planes take a little getting used to.The side profile looked to me somewhat like a rather large cetacean, Moby Dick comes to mind. The model number is representative, I will leave that up to you the reader to figure out what. As with any handcrafted tool, NO SPECIFIC APPLICABILITY OR RESULTS CAN BE GUARANTEED. I will be glad to answer any questions, contact me through eBay.
