The original building was replaced by a great new cathedral founded by Strongbow in 1172, and took fifty years to build. The cathedral is a very handsome pile with little exterior decoration. The interior is very beautiful, displaying magnificent stone work and graceful pointed arches with delicately chiseled supporting columns.
