Description: Necklace: Dimensions:Length: The central portion of the necklace is 33 cm (13 inches) long and can be adjusted up to 54 cm (21.25 inches) with the additional stainless steel chain. Width: The floral plaques measure 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide. Description: This stunning vintage necklace, crafted by Cini in sterling silver, is a part of the Renaissance Revival set. The necklace features a sequence of 8 intricately designed floral plaques, each connected by polished silver balls. The floral plaques are adorned with intricate scrolls and openwork, highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship typical of Cini pieces. The rich, deep Gothic patina on the plaques enhances their detailed design, contrasting beautifully with the bright, highly polished silver balls that separate each section. The necklace’s original sterling silver hook clasp is preserved, adorned with a signature silver ball, ensuring its authenticity. The stainless steel extension chain was added later to offer adjustable flexibility, allowing the piece to be worn at various lengths — as a choker for a dramatic, tighter fit or as a longer necklace to complement different necklines. Imagery: The design elements emphasize natural motifs such as floral scrollwork and leaves, paired with polished silver balls that add a modern yet timeless touch. Special Feature: The adjustable length gives the wearer the versatility to choose how they style the necklace, whether it’s worn high and tight or draped lower for a more relaxed elegance. The deep patina and detailed design of the floral plaques offer a unique, dark romanticism, balanced by the brightness of the silver balls for a striking overall effect. This necklace, along with the full Renaissance Revival set by Cini (see the last photo), is a masterpiece of vintage artistry. With each piece evoking Gothic romanticism through intricate detailing and rich patina, this set holds both historical and aesthetic significance. Whether worn individually or as a collection, the necklace and other pieces in the set are a dramatic yet versatile statement for any occasion, making them highly coveted by collectors and lovers of unique, timeless jewelry.Guglielmo Cini came from Italy to Boston in the early 1900s, and then settled in Laguna Beach, California, where he had a jewelry studio. My grandmother and great-aunts would save up their money to buy sets from him. Earrings, pendants, brooches, necklaces, bracelets and rings. He was one of the most famous artisan jewelry makers of that time. His specialties were European and specifically Italian traditional designs; Renaissance motifs such as the Fleur de Lis, shields, and crests (such as the lovely Prince of Wales design); elements of nature such as flowers, feathers, fruit, animals, and insects; dancing peasants; dragons; signs of the zodiac; keys; and all sorts of decorative Rococo flourishes and curlicues. He also did a later series of jewelry with semi-precious stones such as topaz, and also colored glass. Very beautiful. If any of those sound interesting to you, please see my other items for sale and auction. I am clearing out a family collection of Cini and other jewelry, including the matching items in this Renaissance Revival set.
