Description: Dropped Confederate Enfield bullet (CS)- During the 2nd day of the Battle of Nashville TN. December 16th, 1864. Size: .549 x 1.10. Similar Enfield bullets of varying sizes were found at the same site. Defenders of the Granny White Gap. Members of the Confederate Army of Tennessee were holding back the advancing Federal forces as the Confederate Army escaped through the gap once Shy's Hill had been overrun. Incoming Union Artillery shells were found on the same site as were incoming Sharps and Maynard bullets from Wilson's Cavalry operating in the area. Dug 1985. This bullet was dropped, it was never fired. I have been a token collector for a while now and stuff is starting to pile up around here.... Along Civil War bullets I dug when I was a younger man.
