The name W.S.Hazzard appears in a number of Civil War era newspapers including an article where his wife was hurt by Union bombs whiule in church. There is also a W.S.Hazzard that served on Admiral Dahlgren Southern Atlantic blockading Squardron which particapated in the Mississippi Vicksburg campaign.
