Description: 800x600 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Clevenger Brothers Cobalt blue Small neck Cantaloupe Pitcher South Jersey glass From its founding in 1930, to its closure in 1999, the Clevenger Brothers Glass Company of Clayton, NJ was known to produce hand blown glass that could fool the experts, blowing classic reproductions of early American South Jersey glass. Among the over one hundred mold-blown designs produced at Clevenger’s were some interesting original designs. Offered here is an early style Cantaloupe Pitcher, produced circa 1946-1960. The early version of this pitcher has a narrower neck than the later version produced at Clevengers under James Travis. The color is an attractive cobalt blue, a slightly softer version of cobalt blue than made in the later Travis era, 1966-1999. This pitcher stands 6 inches tall and has a pontil mark on the base. Aside from a few bubbles in the glass, it is in very good to excellent condition. Since it dates before 1966, this piece does not have CB initials on the base as the later wide neck cantaloupes have. Not many of these early style cantaloupes out there in this color. Take advantage of my weeding some pieces from my collection prior to Christmas!
