Description: This is a rare March 13th, 1939 playbill (with several related newspaper clippings) from the Group Theatre revival of the CLIFFORD ODETS play "AWAKE and SING!" performed in repertory with the Original Broadway production of the CLIFFORD ODETS play "ROCKET TO THE MOON" at the Windsor Theatre in New York City. (The revival of "Awake and Sing!" opened December 22nd, 1938 at Daly's 63rd Street Theatre in New York and ran for 95 performances. "Rocket to the Moon" opened November 24th, 1938 at New York's Belasco Theatre and ran for 131 performances. Both productions moved to the Windsor Theatre March 7th, 1939, "Awake and Sing!" playing Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Wednesday matinees and "Rocket to the Moon" playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Saturday matinees.) ..... "Awake and Sing!" is generally regarded as Odets's masterpiece. It has been cited as ″the earliest quintessential Jewish play outside the Yiddish theatre."
