While all the other Volumes i'm selling are the 1953 First Edition, this Index book is copyright 1955. Printed by the same publisher and with the same set-up and covers, binding etc.. Not sure if a 1953 edition was ever published as there doesn't appear to be any in the online marketplace. This is NOT the History Book Club Edition. This volume, and the others i have for sale from this same set, come from a private home library, NOT town library or the second-hand marketplace, and were virtually untouched except for an occasional browse. Condition: Book is almost 'Like New' - appears unread and in excellent/solid shape. Only real flaw is the first 10 pgs have taken a bump and there is a tiny ding to the lower right corner. Cloth covers show very nicely with gold on blue lettering on spine very bright. Spine is sturdy. One corner on the front & back covers are lightly bumped. Clean inside - no dog ears, tears, stains, highlighting or markings. Outside text blocks show beige & white variation. This is not a handling/misuse issue - it happened when the printer used different paper stock when printing. A minor flaw, if it can even be called one.
