The Westvaco Corporation, now part of the MeadWestvaco Corporation, privately published classic books as Christmas gifts starting in 1958. They were not available for purchase by the general public when they were published.They have become collectible in the secondary market. The company stopped publishing the series after the 50th edition in 2007. Condition: Has a completed bookplate signed by two officers of WESTVACO. Book is a cloth hardcover with embossed design on front cover; has an illustrated slipcase; has illustrated endpapers; clean pages; approx 6" x 9 1/2 ". A beautiful collector's edition from the American Classics Series published each Christmas by Westvaco. Appears unread, no known defects.
