Description: Up for auction is a Completed, Hand Crafted Colorart Cross Stitch panel. It is mounted on to plywood and is finished around the edges with greenpiping type trim. It is 8 x 20. All you need to do is add some hardware to be able to hang on the wall. This is kit #25033 - 100% cotton. The title is Nubbin's Bears. The piece was hand crafted in Haiti as a kit sample. All the kits were made in the United States. It is from the JCA Simplicity Collection and based on a design by Martha Smith Hayes. It is a colorart crewel design in which the design is printed in color on fabric and then embellished with stitches. In this picture parts of each bear are embellished with stitches. One has his muzzle done as well as necklace with heart. The next has feet and paws and eyes are part of dress and trim. the next has his paws done and nose. The next has parts of feet and face. Another has eye glasses, ribbon around neck. The next has part of shirt and face and the next part of paws and lace around neckline and part of face. Included in the listing is a lithograph by Martha Smith Hayes that shows a grouping of sporting bears. She has quite a few of these type panels. Some are geese and some are bears or penguins. Also included in the listing is a picture of this kit which is shown for reference only as this picture does not come with a kit. In that picture is shows how this embroidery would look with a mat and frame. You always have that option to have this fabric mounted to a backing and framed. This is completed and ready to hang - it just needs some hardware on the back. This picture was a model to an embroidery kit which would have been on display in a store to show the prospective buyers how the item will look when finished. It was covered in plastic when displayed to protect the picture and the plastic was removed to take the picture and then re-attached. I was able to acquire quite a few of them; some were just matted and others framed. I learned recently that the name on many of these finished pieces identified the company as JCA Inc. with an address in Massachusettes. They evidently ceased operations and will not be making/distributing anymore needlecraft kits. These finished piece from kits are already hard to find and will only be offered occasionally perhaps on the internet. Per the JCA website: "Due to the death of our owner, Alan S. Getz, JCA, Inc. has ceased operations indefinitely. We would like to thank our loyal customers who have supported JCA for over 50 years. JCA manufactures premium needlecraft products and distributes fine knitting yarns.
