To keep my prices as low as possible all my DVDs are delivered in plain paper DVD sleeves and the DVDs title will be labeled on the back of the DVD envelope. This way you can write the contents of the DVD on the DVD yourself if you want to. (See picture). All of my DVD's come with a menu for easy film selection. Total runtime of this DVD is 29 minutes. Film 1: "Coney Island USA" (1952) COLOR Runtime 20 minutes An impressionistic view of a day in the life of Coney Island from the desertion in the early morning to the hysteria at midnight. Commentary by Henry Morgan. This 50s film about Coney Island is also full of historical footage of the amusement park in its heyday. It also focuses on the side shows, the food, and the beach. all paced out beautifully, taking us from morning to night. At night, the takes an eerie quality showcasing some of the more menacing mannequins they had. The two films together encompass both the fun and the sleaze of the classic amusement park experience. Film 2: "Coney Island" (1940s) B&W Runtime 9 minutes This newsreel featurette is a real slice of life from the heyday of the amusement park. Usually these kinds of films portray activities that are fun to do but lame to watch. But this one is actually quite fun to watch, perhaps because the old classic amusement park culture has disappeared for the most part. In this film it lives again, and you get to visit the sideshows, complete with freaks (check out the wonderful advertising posters for these shows), ride all kinds of common and bizarre rides, eat traditional Coney Island food such as hot dogs and frozen custard (prices start at 10 cents!) and even get a souvenir picture postcard taken of you and your friends. The place is packed and everybody seems to be having a great time. This film is one of the best pieces of nostalgia I've seen in a long time. I claim ownership and rights to this media. All the films on this DVD have been researched and are copyright free or the copyrights have expired due to non renewal.
