Description: A solid cast brass button with the Roman letter “I” for Infantry issued to enlisted men in the Confederate Army. The button was excavated on the Bentonville Battlefield in North Carolina. The Battle of Bentonville (March 19 – 21, 1865) was fought in Johnston County, North Carolina, near the village of Bentonville. It was the last battle between the armies of Union Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman and Confederate Gen. Joseph E. Johnston. The button measures 15/16”. The artifact comes as shown in a 3” x 4” riker style case. All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original as stated. A hand signed and dated “Certificate of Authenticity” will be issued by Collectors Frame with a photograph and description of the items purchased.
