Description: This Cubre debut album is yet another confirmation that you don't necessarily have to cross Italian borders to find high-level music. Regardless of the genre of this Lombard band, the Italian scene lately can be really proud of groups that, like this one, show that we too know how to make music. “Our Tangled Soul” is already aesthetically very good due to the remarkable graphics of the digipack and does not betray the expectation even the quality of the production which is absolutely impeccable. But coming to the music it is good to underline that Cubre have now consolidated their sound made of violent brutal-hardcore combined with important noise and postcore approaches. All this stems from certain influences such as Slayer, Napalm Death and Neurosis that helped to form the impact sound of the band,but also the devastating rhythms as well as the extreme guttural of the vocalist Danilo. But in all this whirlwind of drums (and what drums!), Guitars and visceral screaming make their way, at times, instrumental moments of reflection, of apparent calm that inexorably prelude to new violent explosions of energetic power. Listening to “Our Tangled Soul” you will then pass moments of total devastation with pieces like the opentrack A Taste Of Our Hate or Dot and even Sweet Treachery. But you will also find yourself caught up in the utter despair of Is This My Poison?, Only to be shaken by the frenzy of tracks like Song For A Crushed Man or Planet Earth Was A Liar and finally overwhelmed by the sheer power of Emerald. The longest pause to catch your breath is rightfully placed in the middle of the record with The Den,instrumental piece in crescendo that highlights the compositional skills of the band as it happens in Her Tangled Soul. The beauty is that at this point of the review the only song not yet mentioned is The Fur And The Fuhrer which turns out to be among the best on the record! In short, you guys have understood by now that, if this is your genre, you can't miss a CD like this, rather give up a few liters of beer but don't miss an LP that is not so easily found around.
