McWilliams J. Saunders".-Description: This is the original artwork for the 9-6-1970 Sunday comic strip Dateline: Danger! by John Saunders and Al McWilliams (1916-1993). The strip, patterned after the "I Spy" TV show of the 1960s, featured Danny Raven and "Troy" posing as reporters, but actually undercover agents for the "US Intelligence Agency". Danny Raven was one of the first African American lead characters in an adventure comic strip. This Sunday strip features Danny's brother Lee Roy Raven who is an undercover detective struggling in a garage to keep some robbers (Jerry and Lori among them) from taking their car and making a getaway. Meanwhile, it looks to be move-in day at State Central College as a Rolls Royce pulls up. Beautifully rendered characters and panel design by McWilliams in his legendary realistic art style.
