Description: This is a rare, hard-to-find, Porridge Bear manufactured by Dean's Childsplay Ltd. in Great Britian in the 1980s. This bear and its beautiful box were inspired by the 1909 illustration by Jessie Wilcox Smith (1863-1935), entitled "The Epicure" from The Seven Ages of Childhood (as shown on the box cover). Jessie Wilcox Smith's pictures have been loved by millions for their ideal and yet lifelike portrayal of the world of childhood. This bear is approximately 16" tall, made of brown wool fabric, and is five-way jointed. It has a solid black eyes, a hand embroidered nose and mouth, and light tan paw pads. It was manufactured in Great Britian in Pontypool in the county of Gwent and distributed in North America by Projects International. It is still in the original box . This Porridge Bear's is a Limited Edition and is Number 0852 as hand stamped on his hang tag attached to his shirt by a plastic tie. His growler works and is nice and loud. He comes dressed in his original yellow striped outfit fastened with three buttons in back. This Dean's Childsplay Limited Edition teddy bear in this condition is a rare find, indeed! The original box is in mint condition with a superb illustration on the box cover.
