Description: Original 1937 German Cigarette Card Album about WW1 DER WELTKRIEG This is a genuine Third Reich German color cigarette card album published by Cigaretten-Bilderdienst of Dresden called Der Welt Krieg, which translates as “The World War”. It starts with an overview of the cause of World War I, the first battles in the West, the start of the war in the East, Russia, Serbia and Turkey. Following sections cover the the Somme, Verdun, the Russian offensive, the Italian front, the Balkans, new weapons, home front, war at sea, even the war in Africa. There are informative maps throughout this German publication. The 10-1/4 x 13-3/4 inch, 72 page German-language album has space for 270 color collector cards (acquired by buying certain brands of cigarettes). Please note that this example of Der Welt Krieg is missing TWO cards, number 39 and 160. Where number 39 used to be is a small hole, a result of tearing the picture out. A small piece of text is missing on page 17 as a result as well. Our photos show the actual Nazi era cigarette card collector album that we are offering for sale - NO stock photos. As is perfectly obvious in our pictures it shows significant wear to the covers and the right edge of the front cover has an old tape repair. The corners also show wear, but the oversize 85+ year old book has no odor. Our price reflects the condition.
