Lenzi's film career began as a writer and film critic while studying law. Switching to filmmaking, his directorial debut came in 1961 with the release of the pirate epic Queen of the Seas. Over the next four decades, he directed over sixty films in almost every genre including giallo mysteries, spaghetti westerns and cannibal shockers.
