Description: Desert Gardens Ranch 1963 Vintage Men's T-Shirt Description In the early '60s, a couple named Gordon and Terry Dixon began frequenting southern California naturist resorts and soon found themselves wanting a place of their own. Terry’s sister and her husband Bill were interested in the nudist lifestyle and joined them in looking for a piece of land. In February 1963, they found a property just outside of Palm Springs in an area known as Whitewater that had a large cabin, a swimming pool, and well water. The couples put their savings together and bought the property, dubbing it Desert Gardens Ranch. The couples ran Desert Gardens until the late '70s, despite it never making money and being a drain on them financially, and eventually. They eventually abandoned the property, leaving it to decay in the desert heat. The property would be looted and vandalized over the next few years, but in 1982 skaters got word about the large pool sitting out in the desert and embarked on a mission to clean it up and make it skateable. After months of work, Desert Gardens Ranch was alive again as skaters dubbed the pool the Nude Bowl and made regular pilgrimages out to the desert to carve the pool's perfect transitions and grind along the concrete coping.
