DESCRIPTION Diana Ross - “The Boss” Motown Records M8-923M1 / M7-923R1 (Stereo) from 1979. Hard to find Original First Pressing Soul / Pop / Disco / Funk / R&B album from Diana Ross. Produced by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson. Backing musicians include Ashford and Simpson as well as Eric Gale, Anthony Jackson, Michael Brecker, Sammy Figueroa, Errol “Crusher” Bennett, John Sussewell and more. In the Original Shrinkwrapped Cover with No Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode. This is a First Pressing as indicated by the Matrix / Runout Vinyl markings which read: Matrix / Runout (Runout A-side Etched): M8-923 RIA-18AMatrix / Runout (Runout B-side Etched): M8 923 RI-B-18A CONDITION The Sleeve is in its Original Shrink Wrap and in great shape. There is a slight bit of corner softening/wear on the right hand corners where the shrink is pulled back and an old price tag on the shrink in the upper right corner, otherwise pretty much perfect. Super solid with no splits, stains, cutouts, writing, tears, promo markings, etc. and would easily rate Near Mint. The Vinyl is in Pristine Glossy condition looking barely played and possibly even Unplayed. If you really look closely you can spot a couple slight sleeve scuffs but still very close to New condition and easily Near Mint. The labels are also Near Mint. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them.
