Description: Disney Goliath II (1960) Rare Raja Large Original Production Drawing. Goliath II is an animated short released on January 21, 1960 in a double bill with Toby Tyler. The narrator is Sterling Holloway, The drawing was rendered in black and red graphite pencil on 16 field, 3-peghole animation paper. The large image of Raja measures 8" x 3.5" in this rare animation drawing. The Disney artist has written 7A in the bottom right corner to indicate its position in the scene. The drawing has some very light wrinkling and mild age-related toning. VERY FINE condition. Raja is a crafty old tiger who tries to eat Goliath II (wondering what a tiny elephant tastes like) every time he crosses him, but each attempt always ends in consecutive failures. He is eventually swallowed by a crocodile on his last try, but he escapes from the crocodile's stomach and runs away, scared out of his wits, never to be seen again. The short was the first Disney short cartoon to make full use of xerography, a process of using Xerox technology to transfer animation drawings to cels as part of the traditional animation process instead of utilizing hand-inking. Ub Iwerks adapted xerography to eliminate the hand-inking stage in the animation process by printing the animator's drawings directly to the cels. The first animated feature film to use this process was One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961). Ships via USPS Priority Mail, FedEx or UPS with insurance to continental U.S. only. Arrangements can be made for Alaska and Hawaii. Buyer is responsible for return shipping and insurance.
