EAPG antique COVERED COMPOTE Adams Glass SAXON zig zag w lid 1888

Description: Offered for sale is a large clear glass COVERED COMPOTE made by Adams Glass Co. of Pittsburgh, PA. It's in Adams' SAXON pattern, which features smooth sides and raised zigzag details. The Saxon pattern was introduced in 1888. When Adams Glass ceased operations in 1891, the pattern continued in production, made by U.S. Glass. The compote stands 10 1/2 inches (26.7cm) tall to the top of the finial knob when the lid is in place. The base stands 6 3/4 inches (17.1cm) tall to the rim, and measures 6 3/4 inches (17.1cm) in diameter at the rim. A U.S. quarter is shown in the third picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance. This is a high quality work in antique American glass. It is large and heavy, which accounts for the high shipping cost. Compote and lid are in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, scratches, or repairs.
