Description: Doris Sampson's 1976 acrylic painting, "Time's Running Out", depicts the legendary hurricane force storm that took down the Great Lakes ore-carrying freighter, EDMUND FITZGERALD, on November 10, 1975. This painting was the first of a series of Originals she has produced of the Fitzgerald across her career. The original was on exhibition from 1983 to 2018 in the Duluth Canal Park Marine Museum until the facility renovated that wall; millions viewed it over those many years' time. Because she is the only Great Lakes freighter artist who has sailed on "The Boats" as a photographer in every month of the year except February, her knowledge of Lake Superior's wave actions and gray/charcoal storm weather conditions is exceptional. The Artist's original EBay STORE was online for many years until it was accidentally removed by EBay in August, 2023, and was unrecoverable.
