Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 The French and Indian War, which began in 1754 and lasted for nearly ten years, sowed the seeds of the American Revolution amongst those who fought against the British, and has been called the first true “world war”, since it involved the major colonial powers at that time, France and Great Britain. With the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759, it also cemented the British hold over what is now Canada, and removed the French as a viable entity on the North American continent. On the American side, many of the founding members of the United States, including George Washington, fought against the French and their Indian allies, but were shabbily treated by the British after the war, which eventually lead to the Declaration of Independence. This excellent book by William Fowler sheds light on what is an almost forgotten part of American history, but a very critical one. This 2005 Hardcover is in very good condition, with no internal markings and nominal dust jacket wear.
