Description: Up for sale is an untitled drawing by renowned Canadian artist, Ernest Lindner, who lived and worked in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It appears to be in charcoal, and features a stand of paper birches decaying into the growth of the surrounding forest. Interestingly, the reverse also holds a Lindner sketch of a figure cutting a path through the snow to the shelter of what may be Lindner's famous cabin on Fairy Isle in Emma Lake. It is signed but features no date. However, other Lindner pieces from the same collection were dated 1958 and 1962. The piece was acquired from the estate of a prominent businessman in the Buffalo, New York area with a quality art collection. His wife's family originated in Montreal, and I believe this piece probably came from them. I can provide specifics if asked. A couple premier Canadian auction houses were interested in selling this and the other Lindner pieces I have available, but because of the fees and premiums, I am listing them here. Buyers may use the eBay International Shipping Program, or I can ship direct to Canada. The drawing can also be picked up in person near Buffalo, New York. Check out the other work I have by Lindner - there are three watercolors and a drawing - I will combine shipping. The drawing has a noticeable square of fading from a former matting - buyer will likely want to match these lines when matting and framing again. Piece has leftover tape along the edges of the reverse from a previous framing and pinhole damage at the very corners. See photos.
